Typically Valentine’s Day is celebrated by a night out with your significant other. But what if you can’t arrange for a sitter, or you don’t want to fight the masses that are out and about that evening? Let the kids join in on the fun. They get more excited about holidays than most adults! Plan on having a “fancy family dinner” at home on the evening of February 14th. Arrive home early that evening from work as a special treat, and to surprise the kids. Have the children make decorations and place cards for the dinner using construction paper, paper doilies, stickers, etc. Set the table nicely with candles, flowers, and cloth napkins. Put on some romantic or instrumental music to set the mood, and also have everyone dress up in their Sunday’s best. Choose a simple meal or someone’s favorite meal to prepare, have the kids help as well. After dinner you could all exchange homemade cards and then make your own ice cream sundaes! Enjoy and Happy Valentine’s Day!
