During our Annual Multi-cultural Week at LOA, we celebrate "LOA Around the World". In 2018 we celebrated it on February 7th and 8th. Each class featured a different country including: Brazil, Mexico, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Egypt and China. The children "toured" the various countries with their "passports" learning about the different cultures and customs in these countries. Below is a picture of the passport each children received and at right is a collage of the festivities. In years past, we have also held our Around the World activity at Christmastime.
Each October we open the doors to our families and community for Pumpkin Palooza! Every class picks a theme and decorate their rooms for costumed trick-or-treaters. Crafts, games, food, facepainting, moonbounces, and fun galore are offered during this special event.
In May we have or our annual Children's Art Show Exhibition and Silent Auction at Leesburg Open Arms. The artwork is displayed in the Sanctuary and the Lower Floor at LOA. It is wonderful to see all the amazing creativity our children have through Art. The artwork is from the start of the school year last September through to Art Show week. We enjoy music and light refreshments whilst checking out the Silent Auction donations.
Leesburg Open Arms is very involved in supporting community activities throughout our area. Recent activities include the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, collecting items in support of Operation Christmas Child, Toys for Tots and Hurricane relief efforts. Local events include the Leesburg Flower and Garden Show, singing at the Leesburg Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, as well as participating in the Leesburg Holiday Parade.
