Parents,
This will be our Fire Safety Week. All the teachers will be talking to their students about what they would do if there was a fire at home or at school. We will be having a fire drill at school this week, weather permitting. Make sure you have a plan for your own homes.
Aiden and Anthony's Dad, a local fire fighter/paramedic, will be coming in to talk to the 3s, 4s and Full K next Wednesday, October 9th. Other classes may get visits from other fire-fighting Dads and Moms. We thank them for all they do for our community.
Check out all the Raffle Baskets for our Fall Festival. They will be outside the Office on Tuesday. Tickets are $2 each, 3 for $5. All donation items for the baskets must be in by Monday. I hope you all have Saturday, October 12th, marked on your calendars. Note that in addition to all the games and activities we will have a Vendor Market at the Festival. We are still looking for volunteers to help at the Festival.
We are asking for parents to supply baked goods for our Cake Walk as part of the Fall Festival. Please let us know if you can supply us with any baked goods and to drop off your baked items on Friday at the Front Office.
G.L.O.W. Night will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Saturday. We will be displaying over 200 glowing pumpkins. The pumpkins will be delivered this Wednesday, October 9th and we are looking for volunteers to help the children carve their pumpkins on Thursday and Friday. Check with your child's teacher to see if you can spare an hour or so to help. On G.L.O.W. Night on Saturday please make sure you stop by to see all the wonderful illuminated pumpkins that your children carved.
Our chapel lesson for this week is Moses and the Burning Bush. We will also be reading the Bible verse John 10:27,"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me".
Once again, check out our new website at www.leesburopenarms.org. Thank you to all who have made complementary comments regarding the new look. We are looking to post some new testimonials to add to the website so please pass along to me any comments you may have.
Excite Soccer moves back to Friday from this week forward.
Dates to remember for October:
Check out the White House Christmas Ornament for the Civitan Group at our Front Desk. They are $21 each; we are cheaper than anywhere else around.
One last item: Breakfast at LOA is from 8:00 to 8:30 AM. Please note that children brought in after 8:30 will not get breakfast as we need to start preparing for morning classroom instruction. Also, we request that you do not bring food from home unless you have spoken with me. We are finding that some children bring in food from home and are potentially exposing other children to food they are allergic to. Thank you for your consideration. If you have any questions or concerns please speak with me.
God Bless,
