We had a good, safe week last week with our School Safety theme. We had a successful Fire Drill with the students with everybody now in their new classrooms. Talk with your children about what you would do if you had a fire in your home. We will talk more about Fire Safety in October when our local Fire Department will come to LOA and speak to the children.
Fall is just around the corner and cooler temperatures with it. Please make sure your child dresses appropriately, such as a light jacket or sweater for going outside.
Our theme this week is "Wonderfully Made". This theme is about how we are all different but that we are all "wonderfully made" by God. How many of us have brown eyes or blue eyes, brown hair or yellow hair? Check with your child's teacher for the different activities they are going to be doing this week.
The Christian theme follows the weekly "wonderfully made" theme and features two stories. For the 2 year olds: "God Made You Nose to Toes" by Leslie Parrot which helps little ones understand that God created each part of their bodies so they can enjoy life and everything in it and for the 3 through 5-year olds: "God Knows My Name" by Debbie Anderson which explains in clear and simple fashion how God knows everything -- from the number of hairs on our heads to the names of every star. Our Bible verse is Psalm 139:14 - "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
New Staff: We welcomed two new staff to LOA last week:
- Ms Dominique as the new Assistant Teacher in the Hippos (Toddler)
- Ms Cathy who is an Assistant in the Afternoon Infant rooms.
A Thank-you to everyone who came out to support LOA for Spirit Night at Bob Evans last week. We had a very good turnout. Spirit night will be at Chick-fil-A next month.
This week we will have a guest at LOA: we will have Tracey Eldridge who is a popular children's performer in the VA/MD/DC area. She will be focusing on "Music 'N' Motion" which, through the use of songs, instruments, puppetry, stories and more, is designed to spark imagination and nurture self esteem. She will be here on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
Dates to remember for September:
- Orange Day this Friday, September 20th. Have your child wear or bring in something that is orange.
- Parents Night Out, Saturday, September 21st from 4:00 to 8:30 PM
- Picture Days on September 24th and 25th. Schedules are posted outside the classrooms.
Scholastic Book orders have been submitted for this month; new flyers will be going out next week. To order on line our code is L96NJ.
We will soon be putting out requests for Raffle Basket items for our Fall Festival, Saturday, October 12th. Check with your child's teacher for your class' theme. Thank you for your support.
I would like to finish by including a poem that is very much in keeping with our "Wonderfully Made" theme this week:
"Fearfully, Wonderfully Made" by Deborah Ann Belka
Look at me, I am wonderfully made,
I am so delighted to be;
skillfully, wonderfully made and formed,
into marvelous wonderful me.
Look at me, I am fearfully made,
I am so glad to be;
brilliantly, amazingly made and formed,
into the likeness of Thee.
Look at yourself, look at what He has made,
I am so happy for you;
magnificently, superbly made and formed,
fearfully, skillfully, wonderful you!
